Significant Trees: Summer Street Commercial Area

Location In roundabout (Hill and Summer Street), part of the Precinct of Central Orange.

Tree Species Liquidamber (Liquidambar styraciflua)

Physical Description A recently planted tree within the roundabout in Summer Street. Provides a feature, visible from the top and bottom of Summer Street and Hill Street roundabout. The tree is immature but is displaying good form. Statement of Significance Aesthetically significant for its brilliant colouring in autumn, producing shades of red, orange and purple. The tree, although immature, has the potential to form a strong visual anchor point in Hill Street. A second Liquidamber has been planted in Byng Street/ Hill Street roundabout as a visual counterpoint to this Liquidamber.
